Libraries are...

"Libraries are the mainstays of democracy. The first thing dictators do when taking over a country is close all the libraries, because libraries are full of ideas and differences of opinion, all the things we say we want in a free and open society. So keep 'em, fund 'em, embrace and cherish 'em".  Author David Baldacci (2014)

Share Your Library Story!

As we know there are plenty of stories in the news about the very real challenges that libraries face today.

In an effort to support libraries and help share all the wonderful good work and life changing services and support that libraries are doing, Gale has launched a online blog - Tell Your Story - http://mystory.gale.com/

For each story submitted to the My Library Story community (through February 28, 2015), Gale will donate $1 to an advertising fund used to promote libraries through mainstream media during National Library Week 2015. The donation tracker is updated daily as guest posts are published (not real-time upon submission).

You can contribute! Share your own story and encourage others to share their experiences as well.

Here's one recently posted:

"I have been lauding the Harbor Library since first getting my library card and discovering all the wonderful presentations that are sponsored. The friendly caring has kept me coming back, whether it is to attend an author luncheon or children’s story hour, or to borrow audio books. I don’t know how I would have found my way in my new community, had it not been for finding the welcome afforded to me. I love, love, love this library! I must mention the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library a couple times a week in my Facebook blogs…it has meant so very much to me."  By Calla W.
